Highside Farm is a traditional Lake District working sheep and beef farm. It has been farmed by the Mawson family for over 50 years and is currently farmed by the Mawsons, who moved to the farm in 2003. In 2008 we renovated the farm house over a period of months, totally 'gutting' it and putting it back together with lots of care and attention to detail, creating a luxurious comfortable B&B. All rooms have been individually designed, each different offering double, twin, family and the new deluxe room all off which are en-suite.
The house dates back to 1668 and features many traditional features such as oak beams, an inglenook fireplace and antique furniture, but has the comforts of modern day living such as central heating, double glazing and a full fire alarm system fitted. The farm is over 400 acres and spreads almost from the shores of Bassenthwaite Lake to the Summit of the mighty Skiddaw, nestling at the foot of Ullock pike. The situation is Idyllic and the views from the farm are no less than breathtaking. You may even be lucky enough depending on the time of year to witness the birth of a new born lamb or a calf from your bedroom window. If you are looking for that 'Stay on a farm experience' or just looking for 'luxury accommodation in spectacular surroundings' Highside b&b is the place for you and we look forward to welcoming you to our house. |
